Advantages of Cooperation with ZAZ
- The Plant is located in CFM zone (member countries of Common Economic Space (CES) — Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan).
- ZAZ is a control stockholder of FSO Polish Factory located in EU zone.
- Great potential of production growth at export to the markets of CIS countries, free trade opportunity.
- Thus the production costs and research and design works are much lower than in the West European countries (labour costs are ten times less).
- The Plant has good access to transport communications (railway, highways).
- Proven quality control systems.
- In 2003 the Plant received the certificate of the management quality system conformity with the requirements of BureuVeritas ISO
9001–2000 international standard.
ZAZ Structure
Aside from the main plant in Zaporizhzhya, ZAZ includes the self-supporting enterprises specialized in separate kinds of work.
AvtoZAZ-Motor, Melitopol
The enterprise production includes engines for motor cars with volume from 1.1 to 1.3 litres, and also four-speed and five-speed transmissions. The Plant annual average production makes 130 000 power units.
Illichivsk Automotive Units Plant, Illichivsk, Odesa Region
Using the Plant production capacity Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep automobiles, Chevrolet models, Dong Feng and TATA trucks are assembled. Annual average production volumes of the Plant make 40 000 automobiles.
Iskra, Pology
Iskra Plant is known as a manufacturer of different component parts for motor car service, including tanks for combustive-lubricating materials, luggage carriers, tractive-trailing devices for cars, covers, awnings, overalls etc. Average production volumes reach 30 000 nomenclature units per year.
Tavria-Magna, Zaporizhzhya
Tavria-Magna is a joint Ukrainian-Canadian venture established in 1988 by AvtoZAZ Production Association and Magna International Inc. Canadian industrial giant. This specialized enterprise located on the ZAZ territory is intended for designing and manufacturing of the large and very large press-forms for production of plastic parts for automobile and other branches of industry.
Technologies and Innovations
AvtoZAZ keeps up to date using modern technologies and innovations for modernization of production capacity and reconstruction of almost all shops of the Plant for realization of the projects.
The industrial equipment installed in the shops of the main enterprise meets the highest world standards. Among the plants it is possible to mark out the equipment for large-,
Press Production
Press-shop is equipped with the modern highly productive facilities — automatic parting lines, multistation press-automatic devices, including presses produced by Hitachi Zosen (Japan), Erfurt (Germany), Ravne (Yugoslavia) firms, automatic lines of loading, transfer and unloading of parts.
Welding Production
The welding production includes flexible automatic production lines of Camau (Italy), Kuka (Germany) companies — more than 150 Kuka robots, Texas-500 and Alen-Bredley (USA), Simatik-110 (Siemens, Germany) control systems. Maximum mechanization and automation of the welding production allows the Plant to provide a high quality of production along with low labour input, and supervise it with modern means of diagnostics.
Dyeing Production
AvtoZAZ Dyeing shop’s equipment, technologies and materials satisfy completely the modern European and world standards. Dyeing production is established under the project of Geico (Italy) firm. AvtoZAZ Dyeing shop is equipped with the facilities of this and other companies from Germany, France, and Spain. Preparation of a body surface is performed with application of progressive structure of phosphating and cathodic electrophoresis.
Assembly Production
The principle of a flow line using high-tech conveyor systems is applied in modern assembly production allowing assembling simultaneously several automobile models and modifications.
Conformity with Ecological Standards
Nowadays the whole world comes down to use more «ecological» injection systems for motor cars. They enable one to save fuel, increase engine capacity, and to reduce environmental pollution as well.
Long since ZAZ technical services has already started modernization of the enterprise production in order to achieve the toxicity parameters that satisfy Euro-2 eco standard. From the end of 2002, Slavuta and Sens motor cars having the engines of 1.3 litres equipped with the distributed injection system and petrol vapor filtration system have been put into production. Preparation for the establishment of similar systems on Tavria motor car was finished in March, 2003. One more engine of Zaporizhzhya line with a volume of 1.1 litres is now practically ready to meet Euro-2 eco standard.
The History of the Factory
Zaporizhzhya Automobile Building Plant became the history of Ukraine as a firstling of home combine harvester construction, and then it became the first enterprise in the country that started production of small class automobiles. The Plant arose from ruins, it was developed, enlarged, reconstructed, retrained, reshaped, but it continued to advance keeping the guideline directed to production of a high-quality home automobile.
The chronicle of Zaporizhzhya Automobile Building Plant started from the time when Abraham Koop, a colonist of Dutch origin, established the enterprise specialized in production of agricultural machines and equipment.
Melitopol Motor Plant(today — ZAZ structural branch) started its work from production of stationary internal combustion engines.
Zaporizhzhya Plant named «Komunar» started production of combine harvesters and other agricultural machinery.
TThe beginning of passenger car industry in Ukraine. 3 422 444 Zaporozhets motor cars in Zaporizhzhya and engines with air cooling in Melitopol were produced in total (from 1960 to 1994).
The motor cars of Tavria family in Zaporizhzhya and engines with liquid cooling in Melitopol were put into serial production.
Joint Ukrainian-Korean Venture with Foreign Investment was registered as AvtoZAZ-Daewoo Closed Joint-Stock Company. The production of completely new Tavria-Nova car was renewed. Works on preparation of production were completed, and large-unit assembly of Lanos, Nubira, Leganza European level cars started at Illichivsk Automotive Units Plant (IAUP).
The Plant changed a form of ownership and became Zaporizhzhya Automobile Building Plant Closed Joint-Stock Company with Foreign Investment.
Completely new production is set up at the enterprise. Lada-21093 and Lada-21099, Lanos (T-150), Opel Astra G were put into full-scale production.
